Open Days

Parents are made welcome on open days and many are now held on a Saturday to make it easier for parents to attend. Details are published on individual websites, and it is common for at least 2 to be held per year, generally speaking in May/June and in September/October. Sometimes subject specific days are held.
Some universities require visitors to book and places fill up quickly so it is advisable to plan well in advance.

A good source of information about open days is www.opendays.com, where you can search by institution and by calendar.

Open days are not the only opportunity to visit a college or university. There are guided campus tours offered by some institutions and also self guided tours, which, although admissions tutors may not be available, will give a good idea of what the university is like in terms of size and facilities. Information about other ways to visit are included on university open day or ways to visit pages.
Increasingly, a post - applicant open day is available to students who have received an offer. These are a very good opportunity to help decide between your offers - particularly if the student is not certain which offer to accept as insurance.
